Wike Summons Emergency Security Meeting Over Insecurity In Abuja

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has come out to give reasons why voters in the state should elect the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Siminialayi Fubara.

The governor said Fubara’s counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, is not a candidate suited to be elected because he is facing prosecution for allegedly defrauding Rivers State of $50 million.

Wike urged electorates to stay away from him because he is a divisive person and instead they should vote for Fubara, Naija News learnt.

According to him, any attempt by the people of Rivers to elect him would stall his ongoing prosecution.

Wike made the allegation on Friday at Egbeda community while inaugurating the Akpabu-Egbeda-Omoku Link Road in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

He slammed the former state governor, Chibuike Amaechi for allegedly making reckless instigation of needless war between the Igbo and Rivers people.

The governor pointed out that “We have been living peacefully with our brothers and sisters; Ndi Igbo, living peacefully, doing business peacefully. I felt that I should let you know that a vote for Tonye Cole is a vote for the division of Rivers State.

“A vote for Tonye Cole is a vote in order not for him to return our $ 50 million and God will not allow us to vote for such people. We are prosecuting them. They want to run away from prosecution, but they cannot.

“When you have a child (Chibuike Amaechi) who wants to destroy a home, to open up old wounds at this time in Nigeria, in Rivers State is a terrible thing. He is trying to put us and the Igbos at loggerheads for us to fight, God will not allow us to fight.”

Wike, therefore, said electorates should vote for the PDP’s Fubara because he would sustain the prevailing harmony in the State.
