A video that captured the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, celebrating his emergence as the president-elect of Nigeria has emerged.

In the video, Tinubu was seen watching the declaration of the final results with his running mate and now Vice -Presidential-elect, Kashim  Shettima, former Governor of Zamfara State, Abubakar Yari, and some chieftains of the ruling party.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State,  Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, and his Jigawa counterpart, Abubakar Badaru, were all seen watching the declaration alongside Tinubu.

Naija News earlier reported that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, declared Tinubu as the winner of the fiercely contested position after amassing higher voter turnout.

Announcing the results in the early hours of Wednesday, Yakubu said Tinubu secured a total of 8,794,726 votes to emerge as the winner of the election.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had the second-highest figure with 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) was next with 6,101,533 votes.

Yakubu said: “I now perform my responsibility as chief returning officer of the federation.

“I, professor Mahmood Yakubu, hereby certify that I am the returning officer for the 2023 general election. The election was contested.

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned.”

Yakubu added that the issuance of the certificate of return to Tinubu will take place at 3pm on Wednesday.
