Delta state governor Ifeanyi Okowa‘s special assistant for youth development, Comr Festus Otesiri Igherebuo was one of the victims of the sporadic attacks across the state during Saturday’s presidential and national assembly polls.

The Delta state governor’s aide was said to have been beaten and injured by political thugs in Warri during Saturday’s election.

Due to the severity of the attack, the governor’s aide had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. Naija News reliably gathered that the governor’s aide is rapidly recovering.

The political aide, who was formerly the Urhobo Youth Council’s immediate past president and the youth president of the Okere-Urhobo Development Movement, claimed in a statement that the attack on him was perpetrated by members of the All Progressives Congress and the Labour Party.

He said, “I was there lawfully trying to ensure voting is done properly and orderly but was misunderstood.

“Is it a crime to ask that fellow electorate maintain orderliness in an election? Political opponents I know, some of the Labour Party and others of the All Progressives Congress pounced on me and landed me in the hospital. It took the grace of God that I’m alive today.”

Igherebo, who serves as the Warri South Local Government Area’s secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was defeated in Unit 8 Okumagba 1 Ward 11 where he had joined voters to cast his votes on Saturday.
