Imo State Pastor, Frank Onwumere, has denied writing a petition against Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over the alleged misappropriation of N2 billion given to churches under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria.

Naija News earlier reported that Onwumere alleged the money which the former governor of Anambra State gave to religious leaders to help mobilize and convince their congregation to vote massively for his candidacy can no longer be traced.

He added that it was diverted by mega-churches and popular pastors and leaders already receiving the presidential candidate across the length and breadth of Nigeria without due consideration to other churches that have not received their part of the funds.

However, Onwumere, in a statement to journalists, said he never authored such a petition and did not authorize anyone to do so on his behalf.

He also disassociated himself from Dominion Centre International, stating he has never had any relationship with the organization.

He said: “My attention has been drawn to a petition with the above subject matter purportedly written by one Pastor Frank Onwumere of Dominion Center International.

“I wish to use this medium to inform the public, my associates, friends and family, that I, Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere, did not author the said petition and did not authorise anybody to do so on my behalf.

“I am not a member of Dominion Centre International and have never had any relationship with the organisation. The author of the petition is not known to me.

“Please be assured that it is not in my character to malign any person or institution, let alone revered religious bodies.”
