'Nigeria Is Not A Working Democracy, We Don't Have A Political Party In Nigeria Today' - Pat Utomi

A Labour Party chieftain, Prof Pat Utomi has alleged that some politicians from opposition parties are giving cash incentives to members of his party to defect.

Naija News gathered that Utomi claimed that he is aware some politicians are facilitating the defection of some officials of the Labour Party with millions of naira.

The alleged development is coming barely a few days before the February 25 presidential election.

Utomi made the allegation on Tuesday during the unveiling of the Independent Campaign Council Secretariat in support of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The Labour Party chieftain explained that these political parties paying his party members millions of naira have forgotten that there is a need for a new Nigeria where children can be happy without any issues of insecurity.

Utomi, who didn’t mention names of such political parties or identify any politician advanced that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks what it takes and all it’s interested in is only grabbing power.

He however made case for his party’s flag bearer, Peter Obi, saying if elected at polls, he would move Nigeria from a consuming nation to producing nation.

Utomi said “The focus of power over purpose has led to transactions of nature where people don’t seem to matter. As we speak right now, some of those political parties have been paying millions and millions to Labour Party officials to decamp. But they still forget that what we need is a new Nigeria that our children can live in happily without insecurity.”
