Adagunodo: Atiku Mourns Loss Of Political Asset

Some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that were arrested in Rivers State last Sunday have been remanded in prison.

Naija News reported earlier that armed policemen arrested about 30 members of the Atiku support organization during a meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to the spokesman of the support organization, Victor Moses, some of those arrested were state and local government leaders of the group.

He alleged that the police operatives may have acted on the instructions of the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who has refused to participate in activities of the PDP Presidential Campaign.

Amid controversies on who was behind the arrest of the politicians, a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday reportedly remanded the arrested persons till March 22, 2023.

The PDP supporters were arraigned on counts of conspiracy, cultism, and unlawful gathering.

Naija News learnt that the Chief Magistrate, Collins Ali, after refusing bail application by the defence counsel, directed that the suspects be remanded in the correctional centre, before adjourning proceedings to March 22, 2023, for bail consideration.
