The identity of some people who were abducted in the attack on passengers at a train station in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State has emerged.

Naija News had earlier reported that gunmen on Saturday invaded the train station and abducted more than thirty people.

The incident has been condemned by the Federal Government, state government and prominent persons in the country.

The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation in the state, Chris Nehikhare during a press conference on Sunday confirmed the attack.

Nehikhare disclosed that immediately after the abduction occurred, the state’s security apparatus swung into action, adding that the efforts had yielded a result as one of the suspected kidnappers was arrested.

The Commissioner further stated that thirty-two persons were abducted in an attack on Saturday, he, however, noted that one of the victims reportedly escaped.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, while speaking on the incident said that the abductors were herdsmen, who invaded the train station with AK 47 assault rifles.

Identified some people abducted in the incident are the train station manager, Godwin Okpe, the Head of Security, identified simply as Ikhayere, an Igueben community resident, Victor Osarobho and the station ticket clerk, also identified as Akhere.
