Yobe: Gov Buni Signs Two Bills Into Law
Governor Mai Mala Buni

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni started the new year by signing two healthcare bills to boost his state’s healthcare service delivery.

A statement made available to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital, on Wednesday by the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs of the governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, revealed the new bills as law for the establishment of the Yobe State Emergency Medical Ambulance Service and another for the establishment of the Yobe State Healthcare and Health-Related Facilities Inspection and Monitoring Agency.

While boasting that the new bills will ensure healthcare delivery in the state is no longer compromised, Mohammed said that the two laws were aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in matters relating to domestic and road traffic accidents, as well as monitoring healthcare facilities to provide standard services.

He said: “The emergency Medical Ambulance Service law provides an opportunity for first aid treatment to victims from the scene of accidents before reaching medical facilities.

“Similarly, the Health facility Inspection and Monitoring Agency empowers health authorities to inspect and monitor services provided by all medical facilities in the state to eliminate substandard services and cutting corners.

“The two laws will ensure that healthcare delivery is not compromised at any level in Yobe state,” the governor’s aide said.

Atiku Ally Removed As Wazirin Bauchi For Disloyalty To Governor

Meanwhile, an ally of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Muhammad Bello Kirfi, has been removed as the Wazirin Bauchi by the Bauchi Emirate Council.

Naija News reports that the Bauchi Emirate Council announced this decision in a letter dated January 3, 2023.

The letter was signed by Council Secretary, Shehu Mudi Muhammad. The letter reads, “I am directed to refer to a letter received from the Ministry of Local Government Affairs of reference No: MLG/LG/S/72/T dated 30th December 2022.

“The content of the said letter indicated your disloyalty and disrespect to the Executive Governor of the State and the Government.

“It therefore directed for your removal with immediate effort. In view of the above, you are hereby removed from office as the Wazirin Bauchi and also a Council Member of Bauchi Emirate”.

Kirfi’s latest removal is the second time that Kirfi, a former minister of Special Duties, has been penalised as the Councilor of the Emirate.

The first case was during the tenure of the former Governor, Mohammad Abubakar when he was suspended but was subsequently restored by the current state Governor, Bala Mohammed.

Kirfi, a major player in the political circle of Bauchi State, clocked 90 years last week.

An insider who spoke with the Sun on condition of anonymity said the Atiku ally allegedly held a meeting with some stakeholders of the party from the 20 local governments of the state on the forthcoming general election.

Kirfi was alleged to have told those at the meeting to vote for Atiku for president and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Saddique Abubakar.
