NIA Director General, Abubakar Turban As Sardaunan Katsina

The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmuminin Kabir Usman, on Saturday turbaned the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, as the new Sardaunan Katsina.

Naija News understands that the event which reportedly started with a golf tournament on 28th December at the Katsina Golf Club was attended by top government officials including the President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmed Lawan.

At least thirty-six professional players within and outside Nigeria reportedly took part in the Golf tournament.

Sharing information of his participation at the event, Senate President, Lawan took to his official Twitter page and wrote: “Earlier today, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan was in Katsina for the Turbaning ceremony of Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of National Intelligence Agency(NIA). Ambassador Abubakar was turbanned as Sardaunan Katsina by the Katsina Emirate Council.

“Shortly on arrival at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, Lawan and his entourage proceeded to the Katsina State Government House to pay homage to the Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari

“Lawan, together with the Governor and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), Boss Mustapha and his entourage from Abuja, headed straight, in a convoy, to the venue of the ceremony, Palace of the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman.

“Immediately after the ceremony, the Senate President proceeded to Kano for the Wedding Fatiha of the children of Alhaji Hassan Kafayos Jajibe.

“Thereafter, Lawan paid a condolence visit to former Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’abba who lost his mother recently.

“The Senate President and his entourage have since returned to Abuja.”
