Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello

Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, has acknowledged that the outgoing year was tough due to the challenges faced but that they are surmountable.

Naija News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor said this while encouraging citizens of his state to remain hopeful.

Bello’s admonition was contained in his New Year message to the people of the state. The Chairman North Central States Governors Forum (NCSGF) said the state was challenged by insecurity and economic which was a national issue.

Acknowledging the decline in banditry activities across the troubled parts of the state, Governor Bello paid glowing tribute to the gallantry of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for the sustained fight against the menace of banditry and wanton kidnappings that bedevilled the state.

2023 Elections

Addressing citizens of the state ahead of the 2023 general elections, Governor Bello warned against campaigns of calumny and thuggery amidst heightened political activities ahead of the February 2023 polls.

He noted the need for issues-based campaigns among all political gladiators and party loyalists.

Governor Bello boasts that the state would remain central and the main focus of the APC-led administration in the state and at the centre.

According to him, APC based on its performance thus far remains the most viable option for the citizens ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Governor Bello said: “Although our administration is winding down, it remains focused and committed to completing most of the ongoing projects. This is as service delivery, improvement of the general living conditions and well-being of the people remains sacrosanct”.

He added: “We pray for the sustenance of peace and unity in the state and country stressing that the collective prosperity of a people was uncompromisingly dependent on their unity and peaceful coexistence.

“As we enter the New Year, let us look up to 2023 with hope and remain tolerant and committed to the collective ideals that would make the new year a promising and fulfilled one.”
