Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has claimed that Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland texted him immediately after Leeds Vs City’s fixture came out.

Jesse Marsch will lead Leeds United to host Manchester City at Elland Road on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. The match will kick off at 21:00.

The game will mark the first time Jesse Marsch will go against Erling Haaland, a player he once coached when he was the manager of Red Bull Salzburg between 2019 and 2021.

This will also be the first time Haaland will play against Leeds United, a club located in the city of Leeds, his city of birth. Recall that Alfie, Haaland’s father, played for Leeds United between 1997 and 2000.

Ahead of Leeds United vs Manchester City clash, coach Jesse Marsch noted that despite the connection the 22-year-old Norwegian striker has with Leeds United, the player would “cause issues” for the club.

“He (Erling Haaland) texted me as soon as the schedule came out,” said Marsch.

“I permitted him to have a small hamstring injury for that match!

“He was born in Leeds, his father has history here and he has the club in his heart because of that. When I got the job, he and his father were supportive. We’ll expect him to be fully ready and that causes issues for us.”
