Singer Market in Kano

There was a commotion at the Singer market in Kano on Tuesday morning after a part of the market was engulfed in fire.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Tuesday morning revealed that the inferno started with a store at the market where biscuits and sweets were kept.

Officials of the state fire service are said to have arrived at the scene in an attempt to quench the inferno.

The singer market, Naija News understands, is one of the busiest in the state, known for wholesale and retail trading of confectionery, flours, and packed food items like pasta, and soft drinks, among others.

Daily Trust reported that the affected store belongs to Mimza general enterprises. An employee of the company, Muhammad Abdullahi, who gave further details of the incident, told newsmen that the cause of the incident is unknown, but an electrical surge was suspected.

“It is the biggest store of the company, they store largely Chewing gum, sweets, milk and other things. We cannot say what caused the fire, maybe electrical. I was called this morning that a fire had caught our shop, that’s how I hurriedly came and saw what was happening.

“I cannot quantify the loss; honestly, it’s going to be millions because even yesterday, they uploaded goods worth millions,” Abdullahi told reporters.
