PDP Crisis: Saraki Breaks Silence, Says The Party Will Suprise Nigerians

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has broken his silence over the crisis rocking the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that Saraki has expressed optimism over the outcome of the crisis between the party’s presidential candidates and the five aggrieved governors led by the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.

According to him, the crisis would soon be resolved and Nigerians would be shocked at the outcome.

Saraki’s reaction is coming three days after former military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) waded into the PDP crisis.

Naija News had reported that sources claimed that IBB’s reconciliation move may have been endorsed by a former senior military intelligence officer and some interest groups from the North supporting the Atiku Presidency.

Saraki told pressmen, at the fidau of the 10th year remembrance of his late father Dr Olusola Saraki, that the conflict would soon be resolved.

The former governor submitted that “We will surprise Nigerians. This is because we all think about what is good for this country. Look at the poverty that is on the street. Look at how governance has not gone well.

“We will put Nigerians first because Nigerians want PDP back in power. The little differences between Governor Wike and Alhaji Abubakar we will resolve them and at the end of the day whether is Wike or others all of us in PDP want a better Nigeria.”

While recalling moments with his late father, Saraki said: ‘” it was the time he was convincing me to go into politics. It was not easy. In fact, it was a battle, I resisted it. But today, I can see that the greatest satisfaction in life is to see people progress.

“The only thing we can do as his children is to sustain his legacy of making sure the lives of the people are better as well as stand for the truth. Though it is not easy to stand for the truth, I am out to stand for a better Kwara.”

Some dignitaries present at the fidau were the minister of state, Mine and Steel Development, Gbemisola Saraki, former Kwara governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed, former PDP national chair Abubakar Kawu Baraje and former youth and sports minister Bolaji Abdullahi.

Others include Rafiu Ibrahim, former minister of transportation, Bio Ibrahim, former speaker of the Kwara state House of Assembly, Prof Ali Ahmad, state PDP chair, Babatunde Mohammed and Toyin Saraki.
