PDP Reacts To Tribunal Ruling On Bauchi, Enugu Governorship Elections

Senator Ibrahim Usman has emerged winner of the Kaduna central senatorial rerun primary election.

The lawmaker was declared the winner after polling 210 votes out of 223 votes to defeat his opponents in the election, Naija News understands.

The former Chairman of the Kaduna North Local government area won the election on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform. Five persons were said to have contested the seat with Usman.

It could be recalled that a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State on November 2, 2022, nullified the May 24th primary election conducted by the PDP for Kaduna central senatorial district.

The court verdict ruled out the poll, which produced Lawal Adamu as the winner, stating that there were irregularities and overvoting during the election.

The court presided over by Justice Muhammed Umar, also ordered that the party conduct a fresh primary within 14 days.

The court order followed the suit filed by one of the senatorial aspirants, Ibrahim Usman, who challenged the May 24 primary that produced Lawal Adamu as the winner of the election.

However, in a fresh primary conducted on Monday, the chairman of the electoral committee, Istifanus Mwansat, declared Ibrahim Usman the winner, having polled a total of 210 votes out of the 223 accredited delegates who participated in the exercise.

Lawal Adamu scored five votes, while Professor Usman Mohammed scored two votes.

A total of 221 votes out of 223 accredited delegates were cast, while four votes were rendered.
