Police Engage Criminals In Heavy Gunfire, Rescue Man Kidnapped In Abuja

The Lagos State Police Command says calm has been restored at the Alaba International market after a clash between hoodlums and traders earlier on Wednesday.

The spokesperson of the Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a short statement on Wednesday afternoon said police operatives have been deployed to the area.

Specifically, he noted that men of the Ojo Division as well as the Lagos Rapid Response Squad are on ground to maintain law and order.

Hundeyin noted however that monitoring of the situation continues.

He wrote via his Twitter account; “Alaba International Market is calm. Normalcy has been restored.

“@rrslagos767 and men of Ojo Division are on ground, under the supervision of Area Commander Festac, ACP Igbafe Afegbai. There is no cause for alarm as monitoring continues.”

Earlier, Naija News reported that chaos erupted on Wednesday at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos after some traders clashed with hoodlums.

In the video sighted by this news platform, traders armed with sticks and stones marched in hundreds in resistance against the thugs who had reportedly launched an attack.

The face-off, threw some parts of Lagos into a total lock jam for hours with business activities around the market grounded.
