A family in Adawama State has been left in trauma after unknown gunmen stormed their house, and shot at the father and his two sons.

The victims, Naija News understands include one Reverend Daniel Umaru, his two male children and a 13-year-old daughter.

Reports said that the assailants attacked the residence of the cleric serving with the EYN Church Njairi in the Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa on Wednesday morning and shot at him and his children.

Two of the male children reportedly died immediately while Reverend Umaru survived the gunshot.

The cleric is reportedly in critical condition while his wife is yet to come out of a coma over the gruesome murder of their two sons in the attacks.

The woman was said to have fainted thinking that her husband too had died of the gunshot.

Naija News learnt that the gunmen went away with the Reverend’s only daughter.

Confirming the attack, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje told newsmen on Wednesday that the attackers stormed the residence of the clergyman located in Mararaba Mubi around 1-2 am, in the wee hours of Wednesday.

He said the police commissioner in the state has been informed of the incident and has since deployed personnel to rescue the abducted daughter of the cleric.

Nguroje also said the command has promised a huge financial reward for anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits.

Also reacting to the incident, the state Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who’s currently on Hajj pilgrimage, said the government would stop at nothing in bringing the perpetrators to book.

In a press release, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri described the attack as “shocking and barbaric” and charged security operatives to go after the attackers.

He said: “The State Government condemns in the strongest terms the despicable attack on this innocent family; the perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to justice, and we have offered our full support to the Security Agencies to do so.”

The governor offered his deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, including the Church and assured them that his government will continue to confront crime in all its forms, including the threat posed by kidnappers, Naija News learnt.
