2023: Two APC Lawmakers To Miss Oyo Assembly Return Next Year

Oyo State lawmakers, Oluwaseyi Adisa and Oyeleke Simon Adegbola have ruled out their presence at the state house of assembly next year.

This is as the lawmakers who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), failed to secure their return tickets in the 2023 general elections, Naija News reports.

The duo were among six lawmakers elected to represent their constituencies during the 2019 general elections on the platform of the nation’s ruling party.

Adisa was a former aide to the immediate past governor of the State, late Abiola Ajimobi and he currently is the lawmaker representing the AFIJIO constituency while Adegbola is currently representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere constituency.

Adisa had in a conversation with Daily Post during the weekend confirmed that he will not be part of the assembly come 2023 because he refused to push for a return.

Giving reasons for his decision, Adisa said he was intentional about it because of the zoning arrangement in the State constituency. He, however, said that he is not moving to any political party.

He said, “No I am not going anywhere and I did not contest for a return ticket nor buy any form.

“Also know that the other APC lawmaker did not buy form as well.

“Yes. he did not contest. We have a zoning arrangement in AFIJIO”.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation and a former Commissioner for Justice in the state, Bayo Lawal, as his running partner for the state’s governorship election in 2023.

Naija News reports that Makinde disclosed the latest development at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan while speaking to party leaders, local government party chairmen, and local government chairmen from the ten local governments of Oke Ogun Area in the state.

The governor said he chose a running mate from the Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency, where his incumbent deputy hails from, to ensure balance in the state.

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dayo Ogungbenro, affirmed the decision of the state Governor, stating that Lawal has been chosen to run with Makinde.
