Will Peter Obi Step Down For Atiku? Doyin Okupe Speaks On ‘Alliance’ Against Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, will not drop his ambition for that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Doyin Okupe insists.
Naija News understands that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is reportedly planning to meet with NNPP’s Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi over a proposed alliance to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu.

But Okupe, who is the Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, has stated that the former Anambra State governor is in the race to win.

He stated that Obi and his massive supporters were focused on winning the 2023 general election.

Oshiomhole Speaks On Tinubu’s Emergence As APC Presidential Candidate

A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has reacted to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the party’s Presidential candidate.

Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State won the APC Presidential primary election by a landslide on Wednesday, defeating thirteen aspirants in the process, Naija News reports.

He polled 1,271 votes to beat the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan who polled 152 votes.

In a statement he personally signed on Friday, Oshiomhole described the victory of Tinubu as a reaffirmation of his much-acclaimed unique capacity.

The former Edo Governor said the Presidential candidate of APC represents a movement, a force, full of energy and radiating hope of a brighter future to come.

He noted that Nigerians, no matter their political persuasions, would readily recognize his unique abilities and accept him as the right person to lead the country in 2023.

2023: Ex-PDP Governors Task Atiku On Choice Of Running Mate

Former Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have asked the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to choose a competent and worthy running mate.

Naija News earlier reported that there is a possibility that either Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) or Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) may emerge as Atiku’s running mate in the 2023 general elections.

In a meeting with Atiku in Abuja on Friday, the former governors asked Atiku to clear the air on where he intends to pick his running mate from.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu asked Atiku to explain a statement attributed to him that his running mate will come from the governors.

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied reports of plans to drop his ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News understands that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is reportedly planning to meet with Kwankwaso and Labour Party’s Peter Obi over a proposed alliance to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu.

But speaking to The PUNCH, Kwankwaso said he won’t step down for anyone.

While insisting that he would emerge victorious in the 2023 election, Kwankwaso said the Kwankwasiyya Movement is popular nationwide.

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has stated that it will be very difficult to defeat the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described Atiku as a formidable opponent.

According to the APC chieftain, the ruling party will work against Atiku in a very forceful and decisive way.

2023: Tinubu Candidacy Will Affect APC’s Chances – Buhari

A Public Affairs commentator, Muhammed-Bello Buhari, has said that the emergence of Bola Tinubu will affect the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections.

Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State won the APC Presidential primary election by a landslide on Wednesday with seven aspirants stepping down for him.

He polled 1,271 votes to beat the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan who polled 152 votes.

In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Buhari said that most northerners see Tinubu as a Southerner before his religious faith.

He said the majority of the masses in the North do not care whether Tinubu is a Muslim or Christian, stressing that what they see is simply a Southern candidate.

The public commentator stated that most northerners are indifferent about the prospect of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Buhari, however, asserted that the Northern’s disposition is not due to intolerance or hatred.

El-Rufai Reveals Why Northern Governors Picked Tinubu Over Osinbajo

Days after the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has explained why the Northern governor backed Bola Tinubu over Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Naija News reports that former Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu emerged winner of the APC presidential primary.

He defeated the likes of VP Osinbajo, Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Pastor Tunde Bakare and others.

Speaking on Tinubu’s victory at the party’s just-concluded national convention, El-Rufai said APC delegates and governors from the North-West and North-East met and resolved to back Tinubu after seeing him as the most sellable of the five Southern aspirants submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari earlier.

He said the president refused to pick a particular candidate and asked the governor to allow the delegates to decide.

El-Rufai insisted that Tinubu was the best bet and hence the Northern stakeholders choose him over Osinbajo, Amaechi and others.

2023: How Jonathan Contributed To Sani Yarima’s APC Ticket Lost – Delegate Reveals

Delegates of Presidential Aspirant, Ahmed Sani Yarima have revealed some reasons why the politician was woefully defeated in the just concluded All Progressives Congress primary election held in Abuja.

Naija News recalls that Yarima only secured four votes at the party’s primary election last Tuesday, June 7, 2022. The process eventually handed APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu the party’s presidential ticket.

Speaking on the development, one of the delegates who participated in the election but pleaded not to be in the print, said supporting former President, Goodluck Jonathan, was one of the reasons why Yarima lost relevance in Zamfara and failed to get support even from his people.

The delegate admitted that though Yarima was popular and well respected in the part of the country, many factors contributed to his political irrelevancies.

The Delegate who spoke with Daily Post in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, said almost 90 per cent of indigenes of the state have lost political interest in the former Governor because of his parochial political strategy.

Tinubu: Fani-Kayode Takes Personal Decision On APC Muslim-Muslim Ticket Bid

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the trending argument over an alleged move by the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to choose a Muslim running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports that the Muslim-Muslim ticket bid has generated a barrage of reactions on and off social media as citizens express worries that it would be an unfair move considering the religious status of the country.

Joining the host of others in reaction, Fani-Kayode on Friday said he will support Tinubu irrespective of who the presidential candidate chose as his running mate.

The APC chieftain who spoke today on Channels TV’s political show, Politics Today, said Tinubu will get his full support whether going by a Muslim-Muslim or Muslim-Christian ticket.

Fani-Kayode, however, noted that religion could not be ruled out totally in Nigerian politics. He Fani-Kayode said that it would be an expensive mistake for anyone to suggest that a Muslim-Muslim ticket should not be an issue for anybody.

2023: Buhari’s Ex-Aide, Bashir Ahmad Reveals Position On Muslim-Muslim Ticket

The former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad has revealed his position on the controversial issue of a same-religion ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

Taking to his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon, Ahmad stated that a Muslim-Muslim ticket or Christian-Christian ticket may help in reducing or totally eliminating politics based on religious prejudice in Nigeria.

The former presidential media aide while stating that he is not blindly supporting a same-religion ticket, however, claimed that such has helped Kaduna State.

He wrote: “I am not blindly supporting or pushing for a Muslim/Muslim or Christian/Christian tickets, but consciously know that either of the two will definitely help us to reduce or even get rid of the politics that is solely based on religious prejudice in this country. It helped Kaduna.”
