Girl With Coloured Hair Dehumanized By ‘Forest Guards’ Speaks

The 22-year-old Mrs Doom, who had her hair forcefully shaved by officers of Hunters and Forest Security Guard, has said she is unable to sleep for night days after the dehumanizing experience.

Narrating her experience to BBC Pidgin, Mrs Doom revealed that she struggles to sleep at night as the incident left her traumatized.

The 200-level Theatre Art student of the Benue State University who cooks as a side hustle, said she was on her way to deliver food to one of her customers when the officers stopped her and surrounded her with their weapon.

She said; ”I was very terrified when they surrounded me with their weapon and begin to insult me.

“They called me ashawo and started to beat me, saying that it was people like me who seduce men and boys to do bad things.”

She also claimed the hunters used unsterilized scissors to cut her hair until they cut her scarf along with it.

She added that after the assault, she has had chest and body pain.

“I have never experience such a thing in my life before, I feel so ashamed to talk about it and i’m waiting for justice to prevail, not for me but all those people they have assault before me”
