Woman Murders Co-wife For Keeping Their Husband From Her

An Ondo State Magistrate Court has remanded a 25-year-old woman, Rebecca Nicodemus for allegedly stabbing her senior co-wife, Precious Nicodemus to death.

The crime was reportedly committed in their husband’s house at Idogun Village in Ode Irele, the headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of the state on February 4, 2022, Punch reports.

Naija News understands that the accused was angry that the deceased senior wife was hoarding their husband.

On the day of the incident, the deceased was leaving the room she had spent the night with their husband when she was confronted by her junior wife. The confrontation got heated and the defendant allegedly stabbed her co-wife to death.

The police prosecutor, Obadasa Ajiboye told the court that the accused stabbed her victim around 5am on her left back side with a knife which consequently led to her death.

He stated that the crime was contrary to and punishable under Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The prosecutor filed an application demanding  that the suspect be remanded in prison pending the outcome of advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.

In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, ordered the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to February 22, 2022, for ruling on remand application.
