Five bandit terrorists have been killed by troops of the Nigerian Army during a foiled attack on Kwanan Bataro community in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made this known in a statement released to reporters on Monday.
Aruwan said the troops who were conducting clearance patrols in the area received credible intelligence of terrorists’ movement towards Fatika town, and immediately, they mobilised to Marke and Ruheya in response.
He disclosed that the troops who sighted the fleeing criminals, cut off their escape route at Kwanan Bataro and engaged the terrorists in a firefight, during which five of them were neutralized.
Aruwan said that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has expressed satisfaction with the operational feedback, and commended the troops for their proactive and sharp response to the intelligence received.
The governor encouraged them to keep up the intensity in the ongoing offensives against terrorists in the area.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen Lucky Irabor has warned bandits operating in the country that it is no longer going to be business as usual.
The Military chief told the criminals to prepare to be dealt with now that the federal government of Nigeria has proscribed them as terrorists.
Naija News reports Irabor made the declaration on Monday when he featured on ‘Good Morning Nigeria,’ an interview programme of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
According to him, with the government having gazetted the order proscribing the bandits as terrorists, the military can unleash new tactics and weapons upon them.
He vowed that the bandits will get “the bloody nose they so desire”.
