President Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday briefed by Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State on the killing of innocent citizens in the state.
The President received the governor and the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Naija News reports that bandit terrorists over the weekend killed 38 people in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a statement by Aruwan on Sunday, the terrorists killed the victims during an attack on Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in the council area.
Aruwan added that the gunmen destroyed houses, vehicles and set ablaze farm produce stored by the villagers.
Briefing State House Correspondents after meeting with President Buhari, Governor El-rufai called for the total annihilation of bandits and terrorists.
The governor also rejected calls for the rehabilitation of terrorists, calling on security operatives to carry out aggressive operations against the terrorists.
He said: “There is nothing like repentant terrorists. The only repentant bandit is the one that is dead. Our intention in the state is to kill them (terrorists), let them go and see God.”
The governor stated that he came to brief the president on the gruesome murder of 40 persons in his state and asked him to deploy more security forces to the state.
El-rufai asserted that the recent declaration of bandits as terrorists has given the military more power to wage war against them.
He added that the military knows the location of the bandits but that the government is wary of the collateral damage it could cause the civilian community.
