Why IPOB Will Continue To Agitate For Biafra Nation - Ex-minister

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it has no interest in the politics playing out in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

Kanunta Kanu, the younger brother of the embattled leader of the secessionist group, Nnamdi Kanu, stated this in a post on his social media account on Thursday.

Naija News reports that Kanu in his Twitter post described politicians in the Southeast as Nollywood actors and actresses.

The Biafra agitator made the comment as the Anambra State election 2021 draws closer.

Kanu wonders why ‘all of a sudden, Nigerian authorities believe in negotiation’ vis-à-vis his elder brother and the Biafra cause’.

Kanu’s tweet read thus: “Most politicians in #Biafraland are now Nollywood actors and actresses. #IPOB have no interest in politics in South East. #zoo media could write whatever thing they want, #ESN will remain. #Biafrans must be safe in #Biafraland. #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow.”

Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has hinted earlier that the government is having talks with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to rectify the problem of insecurity in the southeast region.

Uzodinma also revealed that the sit-at-home order was currently been weaponized by the opposition party.

Naija News reports that the governor stated this while speaking to a statehouse correspondent after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa.

He revealed that the reason for visiting the president was to thank him for commissioning some project in Imo state during his administration.

When asked why the South-East was not taking a page from the Northerner’s playbook by negotiating with IPOB just the way the Northern governors were negotiating with Boko haram and bandits.

The governor hinted that they were having behind the scenes discussions.
