Teenage Female Suspected Robbers Arrested In Osun

JUST IN: Police Shoot Journalist In Osogbo

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested some teenagers suspected to be members of an all-female robbery gang in Osogbo, the state capital.

The young girls are said to have stormed Aresa community where they robbed a resident of an undisclosed sum of money after they burgled her apartment in the early hours of Monday.

Narrating the scenario, a resident who identified himself as Akeem Busari, explained that the gang entered the house of their victim who is of old age, and stole the money she realized from a party she hosted the previous day.

He explained further that one of the gang members was intercepted by some members of the Hunters Group of Nigeria in the state around 4 am after the group had shared the money stolen from the woman.

“The one that was first arrested by the hunters is about 14-year-old and she was trying to escape from Aresa community after they burgled a house and shared the money stolen,” Busari said.

He added: “At daybreak, police operatives were informed and they came to where hunters had kept the suspect and they interrogated her. From her confession, other two suspects were identified.

“The police and hunters then embarked on a joint raid and the two other suspects were arrested. One of the suspects was arrested at her husband’s house around the Olugun area; she is about 16 years old. The last suspect, also a teenager, was picked up in the Sasa area of Osogbo.”

Confirming the arrest of the teenage criminals, the Chairman, Hunters Group of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, Ahmed Nureen, said his men joined policemen to apprehend three female suspects.

He, however, declined further comment on the development. On his part, while confirming the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, said “They have been handed over to the anti-cultism unit for further investigation.”
