Security chiefs in Plateau State have been asked to brave-up over an alleged plan by terrorists to attack two councils in the state.
The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Ubandoma Laven, who raised the alarm, appealled to security agencies not to be biased while discharging their constitutional duty.
Naija News reports that Laven made the call while speaking with reporters in the state capital earlier today.
According to him, the council received intelligence reports that terrorists are planning to attack residents of Langtang North and Langtang South LGAs.
Laven urged the Federal Government to act swiftly to ensure the safety of the lives of the people. He noted that most security chiefs in the State have confirmed that they have intelligence about the planned attack in the aforementioned LGAs.
He said, “We have received intelligence reports that terrorists are planning to attack our people in Langtang North and Langtang South LGAs. We are calling on security operatives to come and collaborate with the people and stem the tide.
“We have been on our toes since we received this intelligence report. For days, our people have not been sleeping. They have been keeping Vigil; we appeal to the government to act now.
“We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to act swiftly, and ensure that our people are protected as every life matters.
“Just as he acted during the attack on commuters in Jos recently, where helicopters were flying within the metropolis, there was a rapid response; a similar action should be taken to avert any unfortunate incident.
“We also want to appeal to security agencies not to be biased while discharging their constitutional duty. They should understand that their responsibility is to secure every citizen of this country, so we are urging them to be professional in doing their job,” Laven stressed.
