Anambra Gov’ship: PDP Appoints Ekwunife As Ozigbo’s Campaign DG

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced Senator Uche Ekwunife as Director General of its campaign council for the November 6, governorship election in Anambra.

Ekwunife had placed third in the primary election that produced Chief Valentine Ozigbo as the PDP flagbearer in the governorship race.

Speaking after a reconciliation meeting with aggrieved aspirants who contested the party’s ticket but failed to clinch it, the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, said Ekwunife was unanimously picked for the job by stakeholders.

Naijanews reports that the meeting which held on Sunday, at the Abuja residence of the PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, had some governors elected on the party’s platform, some members of the PDP National Working Committee, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, and the aggrieved aspirants in attendance.

Fintiri said that with Ekwunife’s appointment,  the PDP will soon begin the campaigns to reclaim Anambra from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

His words, “We carried out the directives of our governors and reconciled all the aggrieved aspirants and it was unanimously agreed that Senator Uche Ekwunife be appointed the Campaign Director and she is so appointed. All aspirants have been reconciled.”

“Anambra state belongs to the PDP and this will be confirmed at the November 6 governorship election,” he said.

In her acceptance speech, Senator Ekwunife promised to deploy her extensive political network to cheerlead Ozigbo and the PDP to victory.

Meanwhile, the party chairman, Uche Secondus, urged the party’s to forgive past hurts and work together to salvage the state from poor governance.
