Commissioner’s Wife Goes Missing In Benue
Mrs Ann Unenge, wife of Commissioner for Lands and Survey in Benue State has gone missing.
While the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force is still investigating the report, Unenge according to sources was abducted on Thursday evening while returning from a trip.
Naija News learnt that the missing woman had visited her parents in Daudu, a community in the state, but was swindled away by the assailants around 6:00 pm yesterday. The source said, “Mrs Ann Unenger I must have been trailed by her abductors because she was kidnapped about 6 pm on Thursday shortly after she returned to town from Daudu community where she had gone to visit her parents.”
Further information made available to newsmen by a family source revealed that the kidnappers also took away a new model Toyota Highlander which Unenge was driving at the time of the kidnap.
She is said to have attempted to break free from her abductors by trying to open the vehicle door around the traffic light near the popular B Division Police Station but her abductors opened fire to scare people away.
Sources added that Unenge started raising alarm to draw the attention of people to her plight but the abductors sped off with her before help could come.
However, at the time of this report, it was not known if the abductors had reached out to the family or demanded ransom.
When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, said a case of a missing person and not abduction was reported to the police by her family.
In another news, a 25-year-old final year student of the University of Ilorin, Ajani Samuel, has been sentenced to prison over an alleged romance scam and other cybercrimes.
Naija News reports that the suspect’s jail term was secured by The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
