Nike Part Ways With Neymar Over Sexual Assault Probe

Spanish club, Barcelona has confirmed it has reached an agreement with Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar Jr over the legal tussle between them.

The two parties opted for an out-of -court settlement and the Catalan club on Monday said both parties have settled out of court.

Though Barca did not reveal the details of the agreement nor the issues which had remained unsettled prior to Monday’s agreement, Naija News recalls Neymar famously left the LaLiga club for French giants, PSG in a €222 million deal in 2017.

After his departure, the Brazilian had demanded Barca pay him an unpaid renewal bonus but the club accused the player of breach of contract.

“Barcelona has ended out of court in amicable fashion the various labour and civil litigation cases that were open with the Brazilian player Neymar,” the club said in a statement on Monday.

“As such, a transactional agreement between the club and the player has been signed to end the legal cases that were pending between the two parties.”

Meanwhile, Argentine professional footballer Lionel Messi, has ranked first in the Ballon d’Or power rankings for the month of July.

Naija News recalls that the annual football award which is one of the oldest and generally regarded as the most prestigious individual award for footballers was not handed out in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Sportskeeda report, the Barcelona captain leads the Ballon d’or chart with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea’s Jorginho following respectively.
