Gov Buni Makes Fresh Appointments In Yobe

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has reacted to the attack by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram fighters on Gujba town of the state.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the town in the early hours of Thursday in gun trucks, shooting sporadically.

Three security agents reportedly lost their lives during the attack.

Reacting to the incident in a statement on Friday by his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni promised that the sacrifice made by those who died in the attack would not be allowed to be in vain.

He added that more must be done to protect the citizens of the country.

“Government will not be deterred by such attacks from executing programmes and policies in the interest of the people of the state,” Buni added.

Naija News reports Gujba town is about 30 kilometers away from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters, (DHQ) says the Nigerian military would sustain the ongoing onslaught against all forms of criminalities in the renewed efforts to end insurgency activities in the country.

Acting Director, Defence Media Operation, Brigadier-General Benard Onyeuko, gave the assurance in Abuja on Thursday while briefing newsmen on the operational efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in various theatres of operation across the country in the last two weeks.

Onyeuko stated that troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies had kept the tempo of restoring normalcy into the troubled parts of the country.
