2023: APC Inaugurates Screening Committees Today

The  Delta State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has suspended its membership registration and revalidation exercise.

The spokesman of the party in the state, Sylvester Imonina, said the exercise was put on hold following the crisis rocking the chapter of the party which has worsened.

Imonina noted the exercise was halted to douse tension and settle the disagreement which ensued between party leaders over officials appointed to handle the exercise.

He told TheCable that: “The stakeholders had a meeting today and decided to suspend the exercise in order to douse tension. No further date has been fixed yet for the exercise.”

On February 3, the exercise had ended in violence after the state APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Jones Erue, allegedly removed some names from the nomination list to favour a faction in the party.

Naija News understands that the Delta APC has been embroiled in a leadership crisis with different factions arising from the camps of the deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, and the former governorship candidate of the party in the state, Great Ogboru.
