Amaechi Suspension Null And Void – APC National Caretaker Committee

The Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress has nullified the suspension of Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

The caretaker committee led by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni in a letter on Wednesday, 23rd December submitted that those who suspended Amaechi from the party are not valid executives of the party recognized by the national body.

The letter from the national body signed by the Head, Legal Services of the APC, Dare Oketade also said the Rivers State chapter of the APC led by Hon. Isaac Ogbobula is the authentic and recognized faction, noting that the faction that suspended Amaechi is a group of impostors.

Naija News recalls a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State loyal to Igo Aguma had earlier announced the suspension of Amaechi for anti-party activities.

The APC faction in a statement signed by the media adviser to Aguma, Livingstone Wechie said Amaechi’s suspension from the party by the state executives followed his earlier suspension at the ward level.

However, the national body has now ruled the suspension of Amaechi as well as those of Senator Andrew Uchendu, and the former APC National Deputy Secretary, Victor Giadom among others for alleged anti-party activities as null and void.

The letter from the APC national body titled: “Purported Suspension of Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Sen. Andrew Uchendu and Expulsion of Chief Hon. Victor Giadom,” addressed to Igo Aguma, reads in part: “We have checked through our records at the National Secretariat and found out that those persons are not officers of the party in Rivers State.

“I am therefore directed by the National Chairman, His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to notify you, for the avoidance of doubt, that the Rivers State chapter of the APC is led by Hon. Isaac Ogbobula, who was duly sworn in at the National Secretariat of the party on December 2020, by virtue of the National Executive Committee meeting held at the Council chamber of Aso Rock Abuja.”

“By the above, I wish to draw you and other party members in Rivers State attention to the consequences of impersonation both within the constitutions of our party and laws of Nigeria.

“The party will not hesitate to take necessary disciplinary measures should any member of the party in Rivers State continue to take steps in impersonating the recognised state caretaker committee led by Hon. Isaac Abbot Ogbobula or any of his Local Government Ward Executives.”

The APC in Rivers State is currently embroiled in crisis ahead of the local government elections in the state as well as the 2023 general elections.

Meanwhile, in other news, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has reacted to the call for him to contest during the 2023 general elections.

The All Progressives Congress Governor on Monday noted that he does not want to be distracted by the call for him to take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Bello who released a statement through his spokesman, Nnogwu Sani Mohammed at the security and economic summit of the Northcentral Governors Forum in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, said he “is focused on delivering the mandate of rebuilding Kogi State.”
