Brig. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo, the Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, has said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was right to call on the Nigeria Army on Lekki tollgate #EndSARS protesters. He stated this on Saturday while testifying at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the shooting of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate on the night of October 20, 2020.

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate by soldiers on the night of October 20 will continue sitting today, with three Brigadier Generals and one Lieutenant Colonel scheduled to testify. Recall that the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-led had suspended its sitting following the absence of a youth member of the panel, Oluwarinu Rachael Oduala.

5. Lekki Shootings: Only Buhari Has The Power To Order Deployment Of Soldiers – Army General

A representative of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Ahmed Ibrahim Taiwo on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the deployment of soldiers to Lekki Tollgate on 20th October. He said this under cross-examination by counsel to the Lagos State Government, Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN), while testifying before the Justice Doris Okuwobi Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution on the alleged atrocities of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

Brig. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo, the Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, has said the Nigeria Army was not in search of popular disc jockey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, also known as DJ Switch. The general stated this while testifying at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate on October 20, 2020.

7. FG To Take Fresh Action If ASUU Refuses To Call Off Strike – Ngige

Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, has said if the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was not resolved the federal government would explore the provisions in the labour law. Naija News recalls that ASUU had on March 24, 2020, embarked on an indefinite strike over the failure of the Federal Government to keep to the 2019 Memorandum of Action between them as well as the lingering disagreement over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) that ASUU rejected.

The National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd), has stated that Nigeria and the United States of America would lead a global coalition against ISIS and other terrorist groups in the world. In a statement on Saturday in Abuja, the Office of the NSA disclosed that the decision was reached during a virtual meeting of the 82-member global coalition drawn from Africa, America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East on Tuesday.
