INEC Commissioner: President Buhari Replaces Lauretta Onochie

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to outburst of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the appointment appointment of Lauretta Onochie, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides, as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking on Wednesday , Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC said there was nothing wrong with appointment. He also said that the party will not succumb to the cheap blackmail orchestrated by the PDP.

Nabena also used the opportunity to accuse the opposition of crying wolves when some of its member are  currently in INEC said what is good for the PDP is also good for the APC.
According to him the current INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is also a card carrying member of PDP.

“We are very comfortable with her appointment. The INEC Commissioner in Cross River, Mike Igini, is he not a PDP man? The INEC spokesman, is he not a PDP man? So, what are they talking about?”
“All these cheap blackmail by PDP is not going to work. As a party, we are comfortable with the appointment”.
“Even the current INEC chairman was a PDP man. Was he not recruited from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)? Let us face the facts and stop the cheap blackmail being sponsored by the PDP. We are not going to succumb to their cheap blackmail. That is the reality”He said

Naija News recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on tuesday  accused President Muhammadu Buhari of plotting to install his successor in 2023.

The party said the president was perfecting this alleged plot by nominating his Special Assistant on Social Media, Ms. Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
