Respected Yoruba monarch, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has reportedly gone into seven days isolation to seek the face of God for a total cleansing out of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

The traditional ruler reportedly left his palace on Sunday, September 20 and went to Ile Mole, Iremo Quarters, Ile-Ife where he will spend days without communicating with anyone.

Naija News understands that Ogunwusi went into isolation leaving his palace in a white attire laced with colourful ancient beads just a few moments to the commencement of the ancient Olojo Festival kicks off.

According to reports, Ogunwusi noted that he will use the seven days to pray to God to restore peace in the country and as well end the novel virus in Nigeria.

“I am going into seclusion; I am going into fasting and prayer in the ways of our ancestors. We are gradually winning the war against coronavirus and we must indeed be thankful because we are not superior to those countries being crippled by this pandemic,” Ogunwusi was quoted saying.

“After the seven-day seclusion, there follows the climax of it, which is the procession of the sacred Aare crown with which, we will pray for the entire nation and humanity”, the Ojaja II stated.

Meanwhile, on Sunday night, September 20, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 97 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.
