#BayelsaDecides: Diri Wins His Polling Unit For PDP

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has fixed September 14 2020, to hear the appeal filed by the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

Naija News reports that Diri is challenging the judgement of the State Governorship Election Tribunal, which nullified his election.

On Thursday, some factional members of the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) asked to be joined as parties in the appeal.

ANDP counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, said a notice of preliminary objection which is challenging the competence of the application has been filed.

Justice Stephen Adah said all parties will be allowed to respond to the application filed by the ANDP at the adjourned date.

Recall the Bayelsa State governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja had nullified the election of Duoye Diri.

The ANDP had asked the tribunal to cancel the election because it was not included in the election which held on November 16, 2019.

Justice Yunusa Musa, upheld the prayer of ANDP and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in Bayelsa within 90 days. The judge also directed the Commission to include ANDP in the fresh election.
