The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has received a boost in the contest against the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki.

This was as the Edo State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Honourable Yekini Idiaye, and other four lawmakers in the state throw their support for the APC candidate.

According to reports, the lawmakers who were among the 10 lawmakers inaugurated in July last year has vowed to stand Ize-Iyamu to defeat Obaseki in the race. The distinguish noted that their decision was to remain steady in the party under which they were all elected.

The APC lawmakers again alleged that the state executive led by Godwin Obaseki, who now belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made the legislature irrelevant.

Meanwhile, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki, is not a threat in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

According to the former Governor of Edo State on Sunday, August 2, while responding to a question about whether Obaseki’s popularity was a threat to his party on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, ” the state Governor is not a threat to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and its candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.”
