Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu Hints On Next Plan Against Obaseki

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has dismissed reports that the suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is his godfather.

Speaking with Channels TV after emerging the APC governorship candidate for Edo 2020 governorship election, Ize-Iyamu said: “The only godfather I have is God, although I have a deep respect for former Governor Oshiomhole.”

Naija News reports that Ize-Iyamu emerged winner of the Edo APC Primary Election Monday after his top contenders – Dr. Pius Odubu and Osaro Obaze – had earlier withdrawn from the race.

Despite their withdrawal 3, 776 APC delegates voted for Odubu and 2,724 for Obazee. While Ize-Iyamu polled 27,838.

Speaking after the primaries, Ize-Iyamu stated that his victory has signaled the end of the crisis rocking the party in Edo State.

The former PDP chieftain thanked God, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Hope Uzodimma-led election committee and other stakeholders of the ruling party for making the exercise violent-free.

He said: “All the leaders of the APC in the 192 wards, this is the time to fully unite the party. Sometimes ago, somebody asked me ‘when the problems of APC will end?”

“I told him that every problem has an expiry date. In my humble opinion, I said the day we complete our primary election, that day, the problems would end. So, I believe that by this process, which we have just completed, the party is now on the path of full recovery.”
