Pastor, Ten Others Escape Abduction In Kogi

Suspected bandits have killed more than 40 people in an attack on Kadisau village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A security source told The Cable that the attack on the community happened on Tuesday evening.

The source disclosed that the suspected bandits went from house to house killing anyone in sight in Kadisau village.

He said: “The attack started at 4pm yesterday and they took hours killing and setting buildings on fire.

“The gunmen left on their own, and hours later, security personnel arrived the village. The whole place is now empty as those who escaped alive trekked to Funtua town.”

It was gathered that many others who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at Funtua General hospital.

Confirming the report, Gambo Isah, the spokesperson of the Katsina police command, said the attackers numbering over 200 opened fire on residents.

He said: “Yesterday, we received a report that armed bandits numbering over 200 attacked Kadisau village of Faskari LGA.

“According to the report, the bandits went there with the intention to steal food items and other materials from the villagers.

“Unfortunately, some groups of youths came out in large numbers and confronted the bandits. The bandits opened fire on innocent souls. As of yesterday, 14 were reportedly killed while 26 taken and admitted in the hospital.

“And this morning, when I spoke with the area commander of the Funtua area command, he told me that four more victims died in the hospital, making the number of fatalities rise to 18.”

Naija News reports that the latest attack came on the same day Katsina residents took to the street to protest the continuous killing by bandits.

Residents of Yantumaki town, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State have taken to the streets to protest against killing by bandits in the town and other communities.

The protesters barricaded the Katsina/Kankara major highway and blocked the road leading to the town with used tyres, dried trees and debris.

They accused President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State for the spate of kidnapping and insecurity.
