The English Premier League (EPL) clubs have reassured it readiness again on Friday, May 1 to complete the 2019/2020 season games which has been paused for months following the outbreak of the global pandemic which has claimed thousands of lives.

Naija News recalls that the 2019/20 EPL games were interrupted a few months ago with just nine matches remaining.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Football Club was already 25 points ahead of their title contenders before the game was suspended due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak which started in Wuhan, in China.

It was reported that the shareholders of the English top-flight League on Friday held a meeting via video conference to discuss further on the game completion.

However, no decision was made from the meeting which lasted a few moments but again all 20 clubs declared its readiness on finishing the session.

A part of the statement from the EPL meeting reads: “At a meeting of Premier League’s Shareholders on Friday, clubs discussed possible steps towards the resumption of the 2019-20 season when it is safe and appropriate to do so,”

“It was reiterated that the thoughts of all are with those directly affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

“Premier League’s priority is the health and safety of the players, coaches, managers, club staff, fans, and the wider community.

“The Premier League and its clubs are considering the first tentative moves forward and will only return to training and playing with Government guidance, under expert medical advice and after consultation with players and managers.

“No decisions were taken at the end of today’s meeting, and clubs exchanged views on the information provided regarding ‘Project Restart.’

“It was agreed that the PFA, LMA, players, and managers are key to this process and will be further consulted.”
