Kano State government has accused the Federal Government of neglecting the state supports in combating the global pandemic, Coronavirus, despite the rise in numbers.

Naija News understands that Kano State Governor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, while receiving the presence of the Director-General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, lamented that the state has been sidelined in receiving support from the Federal Government to battle COVID-19.

The governor noted that Kano state is terms of economic viability, Lagos State is better to Kano but yet has received much help from the federal government while Kano has received none/

“Despite our population with less economic power than Lagos State, which is economically viable, the federal government didn’t give any support while our positive cases continue to rise,” said Ganduje.

Ganduje still in his conversation with, Ihekweazu, who was in the state on sightseeing, said that Kano needed more testing and Isolation centres in curtailing the dreadful disease.

On his part, the NCDC boss reiterated that the sector is ready to collaborate with state governments across the country in seeing the end of the global pandemic.

“The NCDC was working assiduously in ensuring that the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic was curtailed nationwide,” Ihekweazu said.

He narrates that their visit to Kano was to assess the actual situation on the ground on the COVID-19 virus and also to understand measures taking by the state government in fighting the same.

“NCDC would design modalities to support Kano State to overcome the spread of the virus in the state,” he added.
