What DSTV, MTN, Others Must Do During COVID-19 Lockdown – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has urged broadcast satellite service providers and telecoms companies, to contribute to the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).

The former spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential campaign made this known in a post on his Twitter page on Monday.

Festus Keyamo, in his tweet, asked cable tv’s, DSTV and Star Times to give Nigerians free subscription for one month.

He wrote: “As one of the Ministers entrusted with the welfare of Nigerian workers, I politely urge @DStvNg & @StarTimes_Ng to extend all EXISTING subscriptions by at least one month, free-of-charge, as their own contribution to ease the pains of Nigerian workers at this time of lockdown.”

The Minister also asked telecommunication giants MTN, 9Mobile, Airtel and Globacom to give Nigerians free airtime and data to keep in touch with loved ones.

“I would also urge @MTNNG @9mobileng @AirtelNigeria @GloWorld to consider giving Nigerians some token airtime and data to ease their pains and to ensure that communication with individuals & authorities is ensured in cases of emergencies, especially when toll-free numbers are busy,” he added.

Naija News reports that Nigeria on Monday evening recorded 20 new cases of coronavirus in the West African country.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), of the twenty coronavirus cases recorded on Monday, thirteen were detected in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, four in Abuja, two in Kaduna and one in Oyo State, Southwest Nigeria.

The development means the number of cases of coronavirus in Nigeria has risen from one hundred and eleven to one hundred and thirty-one.
