Niger State Orders Closure Of Schools, Suspends Public Gatherings

According to a statement released by Niger State Government on Thursday, March 19 through the state secretary, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, all Public and Private Schools as well as Tertiary Institutions across the state has been directed to shut down due to the current pandemic.

The closure of the educational institutions will take effect from Monday, 23rd March 2020 and last for a month, Naija News understands.

Matane in the statement noted that the closure of the schools is paramount as the state government took priority in the safety of its people against the coronavirus.

He added that it is necessary to take prevention and precautionary measures against the pandemic.

Also, the SSG discloses that all public gatherings in the state have been put on hold until further notice.

He, however, admonished people of the state to always uphold the highest degree of personal hygiene, remain calm and adhere strictly to all safety measures earlier announced by the State Ministry of Health.
