A call has been made by the National Christian Elders’ Forum (NCEF), to former Nigerian leaders to rescue Nigeria from the current security issues facing the Nation.

Naija News understands that the call came a few hours after Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo met with Nigerian Chief Security heads in Abuja on Monday.

The likes of the former heads of state, General Yakubu Gowon, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and General Theophilus Danjuma have been reached out to, requesting their intervention over insecurities in the country.

NCEF requested that the trio join heads together to push for the support of the international community to help Nigeria in overcoming its present security challenges.

NCEF Chairman, Solomon Asemota, after a meeting with the body, noted that “It is aware that the security in Nigeria had its root in foreign countries.”

He further states that “Nigeria should explore the opportunity following the exit of Britain from the European Union, stressing that Europe would be willing and free to intervene in the security situation in the country.

The forum, however, calls on to the former leaders and elders statesmen to help Nigeria overcome its insecurity.

“As the most prominent Christian leaders in the country’s military, to put aside personal differences and jointly intervene on the current security challenges.” said the NCEF chairman while giving regards to the trio.

“The forum noted that the security challenges became worse because Christians had not properly synergized in recent years.”

“The traditional rulers of the indigenous tribes of the North and the South should unite to ward off Boko Haram.”
