Osun 2022: Oyetola Wins In Aregbesola's Ward

The government of Osun state has reacted to the scuffle between two of its traditional rulers, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi and Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo.

The State government’s reaction is contained in a statement released on Monday by the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode who expressed the disappointment of the government on the matter.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by this online medium that the two royal fathers clashed during a peace meeting at the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 11, Bashir Makama last Friday.

In its reaction, the Osun state government described the happening as avoidable and unfortunate. It also expressed confidence in the ability of the State Traditional Council to resolve the matter amicably.

It called on all stakeholders to protect and preserve the sacredness of traditional institutions, noting that such public displays of uncontrolled anger should be avoided.

“Government is aware that the State Council of Traditional Rulers has stepped into the matter and we are confident that the council will take appropriate steps to preserve peaceful coexistence among the Obas in the state. We do not want any crisis in any part of the State,” the government said.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled that Naija News earlier reported that some protesters on Monday, stormed the government secretariat in Osun State to demand the suspension of the Oluwo over his alleged role in the scuffle between the traditional rulers.
