1. CAN Replies Buhari Angrily Over President’s Claim That 90% Boko Haram Victims Are Muslims

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has reacted to recent claims by President Muhammadu Buhari that 90% of Boko Haram victims in Nigeria were Muslims.

Speaking in an interview, CAN’s Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Kwamkur Samuel said the President’s submission was “unfounded, false, provocative and misleading.”

2. ASUU Hints On Nationwide Strike Again

The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities in the University of Jos, Dr Lazarus Maigoro, On Wednesday revealed that the union is currently mobilising its members in a bid to embark on strike.

The union hinted on embarking on a nationwide strike because the government has failed to meet its demands.

3. House of Reps, Service Chiefs Meet Over Insecurity

The House of Representatives on Wednesday met with the service chiefs over the increase in killings in Nigeria.

Naija News gathered that the meeting was held at Room 244 of the New Building Wing, House Wing of the National Assembly Complex.

4. Kano State House Of Assembly Sacks Its Majority Leader, Abdul-Madari

Honourable Lawan Abdul-Madari has been removed on Wednesday as the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly.

The impeached Abdul-Madari has also been replaced by Kabiru Hassan-Dashi, Naija News understands.

5. Police Charge Wadume, Army Captain With Terrorism

The Taraba kidnap Kingpin, Bala Hamisu, popularly known as Wadume and Captain Tijjani Balarabe and 18 others have been slammed with 16 counts bordering on terrorism, murder, kidnapping and illegal arms.

The suit against the kidnapper and the Army captain was filed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

6. Biafra: You Can’t Stop Burial Of Nnamdi Kanu’s Parents – IPOB Slams Nigerian Army

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it will not be intimidated by the activities of the Nigerian Army ahead of the planned burial of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents.

The group accused the army of neglecting its primary responsibilities of protecting the citizens of the country against aggression to begin intimidating and harassing innocent members of Nnamdi Kanu’s community.

7. Atiku Berates Buhari Over Comments On Boko Haram

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for saying the majority of Boko Haram victims are Muslims.

Naija News reports that in a statement on Tuesday, President Buhari had said 90 per cent of Boko Haram’s victims in the past years have been Muslims.

8. Police Clash With Okada Riders In Lagos

Commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada, and operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday clash in the popular Iyana-Ipaja bus stop, Lagos.

It was gathered that the policemen firing at the hoodlums, who retaliated with stones and other dangerous weapons.

9. IGP Adamu, Senators Hold Closed-door Meeting

The Nigeria Senate on Wednesday met with the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, over insecurity in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that IGP Adamu will brief lawmakers on solutions to the increasing insecurity.

10. Fire Guts IBEDC Power Plant In Ibadan

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Ayede power plant went up in flames on Wednesday.
