Policeman Kills Motorist In Kano State
The environs of Stanbic IBTC Bank, in Kano, was in disarray on Wednesday after a policeman attached to the bank allegedly shot a man identified as Mus’ab Sammani, which led to his death.
According to the report, the sad incident occurred at the bank’s branch on Niger Avenue by the Mallam Kato Square, off Post Office Road in the commercial city.
A further report had it that Sammani and a tricycle operator was engaged in an argument after the tricycle rider brushed his car.
It was reported that the policeman tried to intervene in the heated argument so that it will not lead into a fight.
There were claims that the policeman told the deceased to take his car out of the scene and park it on the other side of the road, but while he was trying to move his car, the policeman thought he was trying to escape and decided to pull the trigger of his gun to threaten Sammani.
It was revealed that in the process, a stray bullet allegedly pierced the windscreen of the car and hit Sammani in the neck.
The PPRO of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, revealed that Sammani was rushed to the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Haruna noted that the policeman in question has been arrested and investigation has commenced to know the situation around the incident.
