2023: Fresh Trouble For Atiku As Another Northern Governor Threatens To Dump Him

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has met with the Board of Trustees (BoT) members of the party over the ruling of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) had last Wednesday dismissed the petition of the PDP and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku.

Naija News reports that the PDP and Atiku had challenged the declaration of President Buhari as the winner of the February 23, 2019, presidential election.

Delivering judgement, Justice Mohammed Garba, who led the five-man panel, said: “This petition is accordingly, and hereby dismissed in its entirety.

“In the final result, and I have come to the conclusion which is inevitable and unavoidable, that the petitioners have not proved any of the grounds of the petition in paragraph 15 of the petition.

“This petition is accordingly and hereby dismissed in its entirety.”

Following the ruling, BoT chairman and secretary, Senators Walid Jibrin and Adolphus Wabara, led a few other members of the board to the UAE where they met with Atiku in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and discussed Nigeria’s politics and the judiciary.

Senator Jibrin told Daily Trust on Wednesday that leaders of the BoT met with Atiku in Dubai where they spent a few days and returned to Nigeria, adding that the trip was successful.

A source, who is a member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), said the worry by some people over the BoT’s meeting with Atiku in Dubai was unnecessary.
