Court Orders EFCC To Detain Former INEC Chairman, Iwu
The Federal High Court in Lagos State has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to detain the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Maurice Iwu, till Friday for hearing of his bail application.
The Former INEC Chairman was arraigned by the commission on Thursday for allegedly laundering N1.2billion.
According to the report, he was alleged to have been involved in the N23.29billion election bribery scandal during the 2015 election which saw the former Minister of Petroleum Diezeani Allison-Madueke also named.
Naija News had earlier reported that Prof. Iwu has arrived the Federal High Court in Lagos for his arraignment following four-count charge bordering on money laundering.
Iwu’s lawyer is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ahmed Raji, who is also counsel for former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
