1. Finally, Buhari Breaks Silence On Killing Of Catholic Priest

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday expressed sadness over the killing of Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, the Priest of St. James Greater Parish Catholic Church, Ugbawka, Enugu State. The President made this known in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

2. Police Rescue Remaining Abducted RCCG ‘Pastors’

The Ogun State Police Command on Saturday rescued the remaining four members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) abducted in the state. Naija News reports that police had earlier rescued the only lady among the abducted members of the RCCG.

3. DSS ‘Arrests’ Sowore Over ‘Revolution Now’

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have reportedly arrested the publisher of Sahara Reporters and convener of “Revolution Now” Protests, Omoyele Sowore. A report monitored on Sahara Reporters by Naija News, says the former Presidential candidate was picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday, August 3.

4. How Sowore Was Arrested By DSS – Driver

The driver of Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and convener of Revolution Now, has narrated how operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested his principal. Naija News had reported earlier that Sowore, a pro-democracy activist posted a tweet on his arrest at 1:25 am on Saturday, August 3.

5. Atiku Explodes Over Sowore’s Arrest

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and convener of Revolution Now, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Naija News had reported earlier that Sowore, a pro-democracy activist posted a tweet on his arrest at 1:25 am on Saturday, August 3.

6. Sowore’s ‘Revolution Now Is Treason, Terrorism’ — Police

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has described the ‘Revolution Now’ movement pioneered by Omoyele Sowore as an act of treason and terrorism. Naija News reports that the police gave this description in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Frank Mba, on Saturday, August 3, a day Sowore was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

7. Ebola In DRC: 12 Suspected Cases Detected In Goma

Twelve suspected cases of Ebola virus were detected Saturday in Goma, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Congolese Presidency announced Saturday. “A total of 12 people from a few peripheral centres (in Goma) following the alert protocol given by the response team are under review,” said a statement from the presidency.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari is considering the use of drones and surveillance cameras to fight the Islamist sect Boko-haram. The Islamist Boko-haram sect, which aims to maintain a sort of caliphate in Nigeria, has extended its influence to neighboring countries including Chad, Niger and northern Cameroon.

9. Messi Fined, Banned For Three Months

Argentina and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has been banned from international football for three months after claiming the Copa America was “corrupt”. According to BBC, Messi was also fined $50,000 (£41,121) by Conmebol, the South American Football Confederation.
