Ondo Council Approves Olugbenga Ojo As New Oba Of Isinkan

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has called for the arrest of Fulani brandishing identity card as security vigilante anywhere in the state.

This is following a post by a legal practitioner, Mr Kayode Ajulo, which went viral, about some suspected Fulani herdsmen mounting roadblock in Ondo State.

Ajulo in the post on social media stated that “They (herdsmen) are already mounting highways with guns openly doing ‘security work’ and they have direct phone lines with the neighbouring police stations confirming they are legitimate.”

“A few days ago I condemned the mounting of roadblocks in the South-East by these Fulani Vigilante. Unknown to me, they are already in the South-West. They even showed me their identity cards.”

Speaking to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Akeredolu stated that his administration will not allow any group to take laws into their hands in his state.

He also dismissed reports that he had approved the creation of the Fulani vigilante group in the state as being insinuated in some quarters.

Akeredolu admitted having a meeting with members of the Miyetti Allah.

He, however, stated that they only agreed to form a committee that will see to the transportation and movement of herders across the state.

The governor further explained that the committee was set up to assist his administration in putting a stop to the continuous destruction of farmlands.

Akeredolu noted that the committee is meant to identify herdsmen whose cows destroyed produce with a view to paying compensation to the affected farmers.
